From the Flores Family: A Story of Survival, Support, and Sisterhood
"My friend Kimbelyn Campbell-Smith..."
Dear Kimbelyn,
I wanted to take a moment to express my deep gratitude for all you've done. Your selflessness and kindness have meant so much to me and my family.
Kim's unwavering reliability and boundless compassion have deeply impacted my life. I’m going to share some truthism. In layman's terms, tell a story from the pages of my life. Many might falter—but not Kim. Her word is her bond.
During my time in the hospital after being shot five times, you stood out as a coworker who went beyond the call of duty. You visited me and helped me secure Victims of Violent Crime Compensation in the amount of $50,000—which was a significant support for my family.
Your efforts with The Campbell House, providing Christmas gifts for my grandchildren—Amor and Aamari—amplify your generous spirit. I can't thank you and The Campbell House enough for being such a compassionate person and such a wonderful organization. You are a rare gem, Kim. And I love you for free.
With deep appreciation,

💜 A Response from Kim
Dear Fernando, Asia, Aamari, Amor, Kayla, and the entire beautiful Flores family,
Your message touched my heart in a way that words can hardly express. I am truly humbled and honored to have been a part of your journey and to stand with you during one of the most difficult times in your life.
Reading your words brought tears to my eyes — not out of sadness, but gratitude. Gratitude for the strength you’ve shown, for the resilience your family embodies, and for the opportunity God gave me to be there when you needed it most.
The bond we’ve built goes far beyond coworkers or community — it’s family now. I remember visiting you in that hospital, and I knew then that your story wasn’t over. You had more to live for, more love to give, and more purpose to walk in. I’m just thankful I could be a small part of helping you move forward, and that The Campbell House could play a role in bringing joy to your grandchildren.
Your words remind me that compassion, when given freely, can ripple into generations. Please know that your family will always hold a place in my heart. I am thankful to have walked that part of your journey with you, and I will continue to stand for families like yours — not for credit, but because it's what I believe we are called to do for one another.
Thank you for your kind words — they mean everything to me. I love you all, and I will always be here. Just like you said — my word is my bond.
With love and respect,
Kimbelyn Campbell-Smith
